Session Title: Iowa Work Comp Case Law Update

Speaker: Alethea Gauthier

Alethea Gauthier joined Cutler Law Firm in August 2025 after graduating from the University of Iowa College of Law in May. Her practice includes workers’ compensation, construction law, bankruptcy, debtor creditor, and civil litigation. Before law school, she worked in Emergency Preparedness and Response/Epidemiology at a county health department in Round Rock, Texas. Alethea holds a BS and Master degrees in public health from the University of Texas. In her free time, she enjoys crocheting, yoga, and hanging out with her two cats, Clark and Squid.

  2. Analyze emerging legal trends in workers’ compensation case law and evaluate how those developments may influence claim handling, medical management, and dispute resolution.
  3. Apply lessons from recent decisions to improve documentation, investigation, and decision-making in workers’ compensation claims.
  4. Recognize practical steps employers, claims professionals, attorneys, and medical providers can take to reduce litigation risk and ensure compliance with evolving workers’ compensation law.
